I am 100% Italian. My mom and dad are Italian, and their moms and dads were Italian, and so on, as far back as we can trace. Also, my dad was a football coach, and in our house on Sunday mornings growing up you'd wake to the NFL theme song and the smell of tomato sauce. Later that day, after watching my dad knead that giant blob of dough and then shape it into whatever pasta he'd decided on, we'd all sit down to gnocchi or spaghetti or ravioli or lasagna. It was always the best meal in the world. Fresh pasta, marinara sauce, my mom's meatballs, parmesan cheese, and buttery garlic bread.

​My sister and I were pretty much two creative daughters in a football household, and even though I am a huge football fan (go New York Giants!), I never played team sports. I was busy with gymnastics, piano, theater, and French horn. I went to college for theater and music, and then later graduate school for writing. As if that wasn't enough school, I decided to go back again and get a masters degree in library science! School became much funner when I was studying what I wanted to be studying.
